common questions
questions we have been asked more than once.
how much does it cost?
It varies. We suspect that potential clients with realistic expectations of their projects already have an inkling of costs and a budget to suit. As a rule of thumb the work currently shown in our portfolio has cost in the 4 to 5 figure region.
who owns the work?
That depends. If the project is a website the client owns the site content, text, pictures and layouts. We retain rights over any proprietary code that may have been used for example EMA our bespoke content management system. We grant our clients non exclusive rights to use the results of that proprietary code in perpetuity. If the project is application based ownership of proprietary code will remain with Elephantmedia unless otherwise arranged by contract.
can you host my website?
Elephantmedia can provide hosting on our own linux based servers for clients' websites and web based applications. However our servers exist to facilitate our work, we are not a hosting company and will not host websites maintained by third party agencies without good reason. If a client already has a hosting service in place we are happy to work with that hosting except where we believe that the hosting is inadequate for the purpose in which case we will be happy to advise.
I already have a design agency retained...
We're more than happy to integrate with an existing team, in house or external, in order to provide skills which may otherwise be missing.
payment terms & conditions.
We will provide clients with estimates for all work prior to commencement. We try to make our estimates realistic and we try to stick to them. Sometimes projects increase or decrease in scale once underway, costs will obviously follow suit. Depending on the scale or time frame of a project we may require payment in full upon delivery or in stages during the life of the project, this will be agreed with the client before work starts.
We expect invoices to be met in a timely fashion, a calendar month between date of invoice and payment is appropriate. If payments become exceptionally overdue we reserve the right to add interest to late payments, calculated daily at Bank of England rates plus 8% as outlined in the late payment of commercial debts (interest) act 1998. We may also or alternately pass the debt to a third party debt collection agency.
